An Investigation and Study on Species of Wild Heat-clearing Medicinal Plants in Quanzhou, Fujian

In order to explore and utilize the resources of local wild medicinal plants, a detailed investigationand study on the species of wild medicinal plants was made by specimen collection and literature consultation.In the process of investigation, we discovered that in Quanzhou area the maximum number of the species wereheat-clearing medicinal plants, accounting for 106 families, 267 genera, 346 species, and 2 varieties, of which30 families, 43 genera, 46 species were traditional Chinese medicine recorded in the pharmacopoeia of PRC(2010 edition) with the efficacy of clearing heat and resolving toxin, clearing heat and draining fire, clearingheat and cooling blood, clearing heat and drying damp, and clearing vacuity heat. Among the medicinal plantsmentioned above, 46 families, 76 species could be used as drugs to resist cancers, and 47 families, 83 speciescould be used as drugs to treat various liver diseases. Numerous species of wild heat-clearing medicinal plantswere widely distributed in Quanzhou area with high medicinal value and they were worth further developmentand utilization.
