摘  要:
An experiment was conducted to determine the optimum drainage line (3, 6, 8, 12 and 16.5 cm from the bottom of the pot) for Aglaonema modestum potted in perlite:gel growing medium. The ratio of aeration over the drainage line was 0.8421, 0.6842, 0.5789, 0.3682 and 0.1316 for 3, 6, 8, 12 and 16.5 cm, respectively (treatments 1-5, respectively). Analysis of variance showed: significance among the treatments for biomass, root dry weight and root number; leaf weight, dry leaf weight, number of branches and total leaf number; and no significance in leaf number, plant height and stem weight. Multiply comparison showed that the biomass of treatment 3 was significantly higher than those of treatments 1, 2 and 4, while the biomass of treatment 1, 2 and 4 were significantly higher than those of treatments 5 and 6 (control). Path coefficient analysis showed that root weight had the most direct effect on biomass, followed by number of branches, minor direct effect from stem weight, while there was a negative direct effect from leaf weight. The results are also presented of a comparative experiment conducted on Rhododendron simsii..
