摘 要：
尽管库赛埃岛居民极少砍伐红树林,毁坏红树林围填土地的规模有限,因此而减少的红树林面积不大.然而,为修筑公路、围填土地等用处在库赛埃岛东海岸礁坪上开采砂和砾石导致向海岸供应沉积物减少和到达岸线波浪强度增大,海岸侵蚀后退,红树林退化或死亡,甚至河流-潮汐通道被堵塞废弃。此外,对河流-潮汐通道截弯取直也导致了红树林死亡和海岸侵蚀。

摘 要：
A though there are only a few local residents cutting the mangroves for getting firewood and limited mangrove areas being used for landfill in Kosrae Island, the excavation of aggregate from the reef flat along the east coast of Kosrae Island for building highway, causeway, runway and houses has induced erosion since it causes the reduction of sediment supply to the shore from the reef flat and stronger wave energy arriving at the shore. It also caused the deterioration or death of the mangroves and the recession of the mangrove coast. Making a cutoff of the river-tidal channel near the shore caused the death of the mangroves and shore erosion.
