The combination of outdoor investigation and indoor analysis was used to study the secondary forests with severe damage to the Merremia boisiana. The recovery effects of the three restoration modes, such as natural recovery, appropriate human intervention and artificial recovery, were compared. The results demonstrate the natural regeneration rate of secondary forests was relatively slow. The human intervention could effectively control the spread of Merremia boisiana and improve the species richness and diversity of secondary forest communities, and it could effectively improve the performance of soil. The content of total potassium in soil increased from 20.64 g/kg to 33.59 g/kg in 0 ~≤20 cm soil layer and from 25.03 g/kg to 32.71 g/kg in20<~≤40 cm soil layer. Compared with other treatments, the difference was significant. The results of vegetation restoration of secondary forest community showed that the effect of artificial restoration was not significant in the short term, but the restoration model was helpful to enhance the function of soil water conservation. The soil bulk density of surface layer(0~≤20 cm)was reduced from 1.35 g/m3 to 1.13 g/m3. Five local tree species were replanted under the artificial restoration model of secondary forest community, and Liquidambar formosana grew. The speed is relatively fast and there are fewer pests and diseases. It is a suitable local tree species for vegetation restoration in the study area.
