[Objective] The aim was to study free radical scavenge capacity of Elaeagnus angustifolia.[Method] With E.angustifolia fruit as material,solvents,such as water,50% ethanol,70% ethanol,90% ethanol,95% ethanol,absolute alcohol,acetone,ethyI acetate,were adopted to extract free radical scavenge composition by using ultrasonic wave and centrifugation methods.Hydroxyl radical scavenge capability and superoxide anion radical scavenge capability of the extracts were measured by using salicylic acid method and riboflavin light treatment method respectively.[Result]The results showed that combination of ultrasonic wave and centrifugation,with 70% alcohol as solvent was found as the best method for antioxidant element extraction,which obtained the highest scavenge rates in hydroxyl radical and in superoxide anion radical.The hydroxyl radical scavenge capability of E.angustifolia was higher than those of Hebei big jujube and vitamin E.[Conclusion] The study will provide reference for health function mechanism of E.angustifolia and supply basic information for its development and utilization.
