New born broilers(ROSS 308) of 240 were assigned four groups to study the effect of yucca extracts and Bacillus subtilis feed additive on growth performance and blood chemistry in broilers. The broiler feed additives of Group 1 to 4 were aureomycin,Bacillus subtilis, yucca extracts, and the combination of Bacillus subtilis and yucca extracts. In the experimental period of 42 days, the average daily gain and feed efficiency(ratio of feed intake to body weight gain) of Group 4 broilers were superior to Group 1(P<0.05),and those of Group 2 and 3 broilers were no differences(P>0.05).At age of 21 d,the serum albumin concentration of Group 4 was higher than that of Group 1,and the serum uric acid concentration of Group 4 was lower than that of Group 1.At age of 42 d,the serum albumin concentrations of Group 2 and 4 were higher than that of Group 1.These findings proved that yucca extracts and Bacillus subtilis had the synergism of improving broiler growth performance by enhancing the feed protein metabolic utilization.
