Study on the Growth and Development of Punica granatum L. cv. Taishanhong Fruit

To fully understand the dynamic changes of Punica granatum L. cv. Taishanhong fruit during growth and development,P. granatum cv. Taishanhong fruits were observed since one week after flowering, the fruit diameter, average fruit weight, hundred grains weight of the seeds, titratable acidity of fruits, total soluble solids and other fruit growth and development indicators were measured. The results showed that the development period of P. granatum cv. Taishanhong fruit could be divided into4 phases: young fruit, fruit enlargement, fruit coloring and fruit maturity. The fruit growth and development may last for about5 months. During different growth period of dynamic change, with the increase of fruit volume, 3 fruit rapid growth phases were observed; the rapid growth phases were separately found on the 4~(th), 13~(th)and 19~(th)week. Fruits volume, the increase of fruit diameter, weight of single fruit, hundred-grain weight, titratable acid content and total soluble solids content are significant pairwisely correlated, while the correlation can provide the basis for judging developmental phase.
