"Death" is an important topic that people in China and English-speaking countries cannot avoid in cross-cultural communication.People do not want to die or talk about death,a topic full of language taboos. At the same time, people do not want to talk about death-related things such as "illness" and "old age".There are some similarities and differences about death between China and English-speaking countries. The roots include profound religious and cultural backgrounds and people's psychological associations. With the continuous deepening of reform and opening up,the scale and depth of cross-cultural communication is bound to continue to expand. In order to promote cross-cultural communication and enhance people's understanding,we need to work hard to avoid talking about the taboos of "death".This requires us to understand the customs and habits of western countries and use both euphemism and body language properly.
