Pseudomonas syrzngae pv. broussonetiae pv. nov.

Bacterial blight of common papermulberry (Broussonetiae papyrifera (L. ) Vent) is a new disease caused by plant pathogenic fluorescent Pseudomonas. Angular leafspot, stem canker and swollen shoot are the main symptoms of the disease. Twelve common paper-mulberry isolates were isolated from Nanjing, Suzhou, and.Yanzhou respectively. Three isolates of P seudomonas syringae pv. mori from mulberry were isolated in Suzhou and obtained from International Collection of Micro-organisms from Plants (ICMP). Cross inoculation tests with mulberry strains and common papermulberry strains showed that they couldn't infect each other. Comparative studies in bacteriological features, "LOPAT" tests, and other 37 physiological and biochemical tests indicated that the phynotypic characteristics of the two strains were similar. The protein pattern of SDS -PAGE had slight difference between them, but there was no relationship in serological reactions. Results indicated that common papermulberry strains were a new pathovar of Pseudomonas syringae, named as Pseudomonas syringae pv. broussonetiae pv. nov.
