本文第一部分,回顾了昆虫分类学在国外发展的情况,从亚里斯多德、林奈、达尔文到最近二十年,不同学派分类理论的提出和新技术的应用。第二部分,回顾了中国古代在昆虫分类上的成就、近二百年来反动封建统治和帝国主义侵略对中国分类科学的发展的阻碍、新中国成立后昆虫分类工作者所作出的贡献直至十年浩劫的破坏和科学春天的到来。第三部分,从全国收藏昆虫标本数量、已知种数、文献、出版物、研究人员和经费等方面的对比,找出我国昆虫分类领域和先进国家的差距。第四部分作者提出如何发展中国昆虫分类学的重要措施。

摘  要：
This paper is composed of four parts. The first part aims at reviewing the development of insect taxonomy abroad from Aristotile, Linne. and Darwin to the current times, including different schools of thought on insect taxonomy and the application of new techniques relevant to taxonomic study. The second part attempts to look back on the achievements obtained by the ancient Chinese people in the sphere of insect taxonomy, and how seriously the feudalism and the imperialistic invasion hindered the development of Chinese taxonomy science during a time of nearly two hundred years,and how Chinese texonomists conducted successfully their research work after the founding of New China and how the spring of science came back to China after the decade of calamities caused by the "Cultural Revolution". The third part is in an attempt to find out the gap between China and some advanced countries in the field of insect taxonomy by a comparison of the specimen quantity,the known species,literature, publications, research workers, funds and so on. In the fourth part the author put forward a series of constructive measures for the further development of Chinese insect taxonomy.
