It is importan to relate soil water dynamic parameters and easily determined soil physical characteristics.Fractal theory provides a new approach for the study above. The relationship between fractal demension and soil aggregates al low suction was studied by using 11 soil spmples under sub-alpine forests of the Gongga mountain. The results showed that: fractal dimension well characterized the composition of soil aggregates and water distribution within low suctions;the correlation coefficients between dry / wet aggregates fractal dimensions(CFD,WFD) and the fractal dimensions of soil water holding curve within low suctions were 0.891 and 0.759 respectively(P<0.01) and the linear regression equations quantificationally described the influence of forest soil aggregates on soil water holding.
