In order to study the effects of Ca2+ nutrition on the seedling physiological and molecular levels of Suaeda salsa, the seedlings grown in Hoagland nutrient solution were treated with different NaCl concentrations combined with two levels of Ca2+(0mmol/L and 20mmol/L).Increasing of Ca2+ concentration in the solution markedly increased the fresh weight of S.salsa seedlings, and the concentration of Ca2+,K+ in the leaf cell sap under NaCl stress was higher than that of the contral.Furthermore, the leaf tonoplast Ca2+-ATPase activity was significantly increased with increasing of exogenous Ca2+ concentration, but little changed was found under NaCl stress.However,Ca2+/H+ antiporter expression levels were markedly increased under NaCl stress with different Ca2+ nutrition level. The results suggest that the enhancement of S.salsa seedlings growths under salt stress was Ca2+-dependented process and Ca2+/H+ antiporter played an important role in maintaining cytosolic Ca2+ homeostasis.
