摘  要:
A press sintered ceramic/cemented carbide/ceramic sandwich with strong interface has the advantages of ceramic and cemented carbide tool materials. Various cracks may appear on this kind of material due to the residual thermal stresses caused by the dismatch of thermal expansion of the two materials. Cracks in the symmetry face paralleling to the combined interface were observed in our experiments. Very limited analyses to explain this phenomenon in former references were found and the models established for calculating the stresses that contribute to the cracks vertical to the combined interface only before. A new model for calculating the residual thermal stresses in sandwich materials was established in this paper and the formulas of residual thermal stresses resulting from their differential expansion were derived for a press sintered ceramic/cemented carbide/ceramic sandwich compound. The factors affecting stresses were analyzed.
