Under ultrasonic-assisted condition, carboxylated cellulose nanocrystals( CCN) were prepared with ammonium persulfate by direct oxidative degradation of borers powder from moso bamboo. The microstructure, morphology and spectrum properties, the crystal structure of borer powder and CCN were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectrometry and X-ray diffraction. The results indicated that the borers powder was tore irregularly and the size was 10- 50 μm,while the prepared CCN was spherical, and the size was about 10- 30 nm. The results of FTIR analysis showed that CCN retained the basic chemical structure of cellulose and a strong carbonyl C = O peak appeared at 1731 cm- 1due to the presence of carboxylic acid groups. The XRD spectra showed that the CCN had crystalline cellulose Ⅰ structure and the crystallinity was 55.75%.
