In order to overcome the disadvantages of single species management and improve forest productivity, investigation and analyses of pure and mixed stands of the species Eucalyptuswetarensis× E. camaldulensis, Pinusmassoniana and Cunninghamialanceolata were carried out. Six afforestation models were investigated including: pure stands of P. massoniana; pure stands of C. lanceolata; pure stands of E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis; mixed stands of C. lanceolata and E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis; mixed stands of P. massoniana and E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis; and, mixed stands of P. massoniana and C. lanceolata. The results showed that the seedling survival rate for all 6 afforestation models exceeded 87%. Compared with three kinds of pure stands and with forest stand density of 2505 trees/ha, stands of E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis mixed with C.lanceolata at a 1:3 ratio and C.lanceolata mixed with P.massoniana at a 1:1 ratio provided win-win results; in these two types of mixed stands the growth of E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis, P.massoniana and C.lanceolata were comparable with that in the pure standand better than either the mixed stand of E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensiswith C.lanceolataor the pure stand of E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis. In the mixed stand of the three species, the average diameter, tree height and plant material integral was 9.96%, 19.82% and 40.05% higher than the pure E. wetarensis× E. camaldulensis stand; and 24.89%, 10.73% and 69.23%. higher than the pure C.lanceolatastand.
