An investigation on oyster industry in eastern coastal of Guangdong

As one of main oyster production areas in China,eastern coastal of Gongdong has long history of oyster cultivating.Main varieties include ostrea rivularis and ostrea gigas.Fry mainly comes from other places.Cultivation methods comprise sowing,slotting,raft and cage.Production cycle is different from variety and quality.Processing remains in pre-processing stage such as prying shells,soaking the meat in salt water and drying.Sales pattern is "ostrea rivularis down south and ostrea gigas up north".Cultivating benefit demonstrates associative characteristics like regional difference,varietal differences,brand effect,integration effect and scale effect.Problems lie in non-scale production,sea area pollution,fragile industry attributes,reputational brand risk and industry policy lack.The most important thing is to extend industry chain,control environmental protection,cultivate independent brand,popularize cooperative organization and enhance risk prevention capacity.
