Exogenous pea DNA was directly introduced into common wheat. A great range of different kinds of variation , such as seed protein components, peroxidase isozyme (POD), esterase isozyme (EST) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), occurred in the progenies of receptors. The high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW GS) increased by 86ku and 80ku new components in Superear M 1 variant wheat, and on the other hand, in Chinese Spring C variant wheat, HMW GS components 92ku and 82ku disappeared, and the staining degree of the protein subunit bands in its MMW regions also occurred striking strengthen (intensified) and weaken separately. Isozyme also showed different isozyme bands, losing isozyme bands and increase and decrease of enzyme activity in varying degrees. It was assumed that the mechanism for variation of the receptor caused by exogenous DNA might be the comprehensive effects of the donor gene transference, gene heterology, gene interaction and the exogenous DNA fragment "recombination insert".
