The effects of P.notatumn in soil and water conservation and goat fattening on degraded slope-land were studied through needle punching method and plot run-off pool. The results showed that the height, fresh grass yield and vegetation coverage of P.notatumn were 15.63 cm,2 567.45 kg/667m2 and 95.62% respectively in the year when it was planted. The fresh grass yield and vegetation coverage would be up to 2 896.24 kg/667m2 and 99.23% respectively three years later.Nevertheless, compared with P.notatumn, various indexes of perennial ryegrass and its mixed sowing groups decreased in different degrees.Compared with abandoned sloping farmland, the surface runoff and soil erosion amount decreased by 47.54% and 93.25% separately. The daily gain of goats fed with P.notatumn was 133.5 g,and their dressing percentage and pure meat percentage were all very high. The net income of one goat was 40.35 Yuan.By planting P.notatumn on degraded slope-land,not only the loss of soil and water could be reduced, but also the forage grass could be get for ages, which was beneficial to the development of ecological pastoral animal husbandry.
