A series of comparative tests of two control progiams against citrus pests were carried out since July. 1997 to June. 2000 in citrus orchard in Huangyan City, Zhejiang Province. The results showed that the citrus pests can be more effectively kept under control by adopting the control program spraying mainly with petroleum spray oils (PSO) and copper germicides, the ecological environment in citrus orchard was improved, the density and natural control level of natural enemies was recovered. This program was considered beneficial to the implementation of citrus pests sustainable management, comparing with conventional control program spraying mainly with synthetic pesticides. Owing to the expensive price of high precision PSO, the cost of the control program was rather high at the beginning of practice, but it was progressively reduced along with the enhancement of density and natural control level of natural enemies and the decrease of spraying times, and stepped down to the level lower than that of conventional control program one year later.
