With the continuous strengthening of ecological civilization construction in China, it is of great significance to maintain and improve forest ecosystem integrity. Based on the remote sensing image data and socio-economic statistical data of 38 sample counties in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, this paper measures the level of forest fragmentation and empirically analyzes the socio-economic determinants of forest fragmentation. The results show that the impact of per capita GDP on forest fragmentation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei sample counties presents an inverted "U" shape. In the initial development stage with low per capita GDP, per capita GDP enhances forest fragmentation. With the increase of per capita GDP, per capita GDP helps to slow down the forest fragmentation after the inflection point. In addition, the impact of the SLCP on forest fragmentation is negative, while the impact of urbanization on forest fragmentation is positive. The impact of urbanization rate, electricity consumption per capita, grain sown area per capita and population density on forest fragmentation is insignificant. On this basis, the paper puts forward the policy implications to slow down the forest fragmentation, which can help promote the coordinated development of socio-economy and forest ecology in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and to promote the sustainable development of this region. The innovations of this paper are as follows: First, it enriches the theoretical research on the impact factors of forest fragmentation. Second, based on the interdisciplinary perspective of human geography and forestry economics, we use county level data and econometric regression model to improve the accuracy of the research, and provide some practical guidance for promoting the coordinated development of socioeconomy and forest ecology.
