In order to screen out the camping model suitable for promotion in northern China, four treatments(pure forest of Populus sp., mixed forest of Populus sp. with Robinia pseudoacacia, mixed planted with Populus sp. and Panax pseudoginseng, Populus sp. and peanut) were compared. Result shows that:Pure poplar forest has the lowest soil moisture content, and the proportion of medium and coarse sand is the highest;it indicates that pure poplar forest can aggravate soil desertification and is not conducive to improving soil water storage capacity; mixed forest of poplar with Robinia pseudoacacia, mixed forest of poplar and peanut, mixed forest of poplar with Panax pseudoginseng, compared with pure forest of poplar, the water content in the soil has increased;the proportion of coarse sand and medium sand decrease, and the proportion of clay particles and fine powder particles increase. The soil and water conservation effect is optimal in the forest medicine mode, followed by the agricultural and forestry mode. It is suggested to promote two modes(poplar and medicinal materials, poplar and crops).
