The studies included the determination of minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs)of florfenical, chlorenfenical, erythromycin, linkemycin, SMZ and norfloxacin against Riemerella anatipestifer(RA) in vitro. The MICs of them against RA were 1μg/mL, 2μg/mL, 4μg/mL, 32μg/mL, 64μg/mL, 8μg/mL, respectively. One hundred and eighty ducklings aged two weeks were randomly assigned to six groups, 30 ducklings for each group. One of the 6 groups was used as uninfected and untreated group. Each duckling in the 5 groups was infected hypodermic injection(2.5 mL/kg·bw) with RA. Three groups of the infected ducklings were treated with florfenical orally at the dosage of 10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg, 30 mg/kg, respectively. One group of the infected ducklings were treated with chloramfenical as the positive control at a dosage of 30 mg/kg·bw following oral administration. Fifteen days after the final medication, the curative rates of the florfenical-treated groups and the positive control group were 93.3%, 90.0%, 80.7%, 82.1%, respectively. The mortalily rate of the negative control group was 56.7%.
