In one experiment 11 Pigs were inoculated intravenously with 14-25 million trophozoites of Toxop- lasma gondii. In this group of experimently infected pigs toxoplasmas were detected in 36 principal organs of 6 acute cases of swine toxoplasmosis by this technique, the positive rate being 94.4%; whereas during life of these 11 pigs when the superficial inguinal lymph nodes were examined for the parasites, the positive rate was 100%. In another experiment 25 pigs were inoculated intravenously with one million trophozoites of Toxo- plasma gondii, and the positive rate of using this technique to detect the parasites in the superficial inguinal lymph nodes of the living pigs was 60%~80%. When comparing with the results obtained by the ordinary Giemsa's staining method the immun- oenzymatic technique was found to be much more sensitive and specific, and the amount of various reagents used was very small, their qualities were rather stable, and the treated specimens could be examined with an ordinary light microscope without any nonspecific interference. On this account, it is considered that the immunoenzymatic technique is easier to be used in an ordinary laboratory than the Giemsa's staining and could provide a means for the rapid diagnosis of acute cases of swine toxoplasmosis.
