Study on Formation of Settlements Along Lushi Section of the Ancient Tea Horse Road

The Lushi section of the Ancient Tea Horse Road is an important channel of immigration, trade and culture in the southwest border of Yunnan in ancient China. The formation of settlements along it reflects the changes of local life, culture and various materials. Through the study of the Lushisection of the Tea Horse Ancient Road, we can not only well record the facts of the settlement formation along the ancient road, but also provide reference for the study of the settlement formation along other ancient roads in China. This study takes Jinma Village, Lushi Village, Xiniu Village and Tangfang Village along the Lushi section of the Ancient Tea Horse Road as the research object, studies the formation of settlements along the line from the perspective of time and space, and adopts the methods of historical data collection and field investigation from the perspective of time. From the perspective of space, GIS is used to analyze the distribution characteristics of settlements. The results show that the settlements along the ancient post road in Lushi section were formed in the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, which were mainly affected by political policies, post road economy and livelihood needs. The distribution of settlements is related to the distance between post stations, landform and land use types. The above research findings can provide reference for the development and protection of settlements along ancient post roads.
