Evaluation of agricultural development environment in counties of Hainan based on principal component analysis method

【Objective 】The study aimed to improve the agricultural development environment and define the regional agricultural investment direction, by which can promote the coordinated development of regional agriculture in Hainan Province. 【Method 】Using the date of 2011, the study focused on the agriculture development environment estimation of the 18 cities(counties) in Hainan Province based on their agricultural development conditions and features by using the Principal Component Analysis method. 【Result 】Due to the different topography, geomorphology and cultivated land area, the agriculture development environment score of cities(counties) in central Hainan Province is low and the agriculture is not suitable in these regions, while the cities(counties) in the coastal plain terrain have strong agricultural investment potential. There is regional imbalance in agricultural development of Hainan Province.Land and capital both play the key role in agriculture development of Hainan Province. But the factor of agriculture structure and technology could not promote the agriculture development well in most cities(counties). 【Suggestion 】For the sake of pushing on the process of agricultural modernization of Hainan Province, some suggestions have been put forward including increasing investment in agriculture to enhance agricultural development foundation, relying on agricultural science and technology, and optimizing the adjustment structure based on the local conditions and so on.
