This study aimed to explore the effects of different bile acids, silkworm feed protein powder and cordyceps sinensis powder on production performance, intestinal histomorphology and microbiology of broilers, and determine the appropriate addition level to promote chick performance, intestinal digestion and absorption of nutrients, and healthy intestinal development. Four hundred and eighty one-day-age broiler chicks were divided into 6 groups. Group Ⅰ was the control group to feed the basal diet, group Ⅱ to Ⅵ were the experimental groups, and groups Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ were added 250 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg, 750 mg/kg bile acid salt in basal diet respectively, group Ⅴ and Ⅵ were added 50 g/kg silkworm pupa feed protein powder and cordyceps sinensis spray dry powder on the basis of 250 mg/kg bile acid salt. The intestine and intestinal contents at different ages were collected during the 35-day period and measured. The results showed that adding proper amount of bile acid salt, silkworm pupa feed protein powder and cordyceps sinensis dry powder in the diet could effectively improve the performance of broiler chicks, intestinal villus height, crypt depth and decrease E. coli count. The addition of 250 mg/kg bile acid salt had the best effect on the performance of broilers and the control of E. coli, while the addition of 750 mg/kg bile acid salt could effectively improve the intestinal villus height, crypt depth and muscle thickness of broilers.
