斯科特·斯洛维克以美国西部生态批评,尤其以美国西南部环境文学研究为例,就如何探寻环境文学中的地方和全球意义,如何扩大生态批评的研究范畴做了有意义的探讨,提出生态批评现阶段关于"地方"的看似矛盾的两个观点:地方意识和全球意识,倡导"生态世界主义",认为我们应该在特性与共性、地方与全球、人类与非人类之间寻求一个平衡,生态批评或者说环境文学研究就应该积极探寻这些关系的含义。

摘 要：
Scott Slovic takes American Western eco-criticism,especially the environmental literature of American Southwest,as an example to suggest how to explore the sense of place in the global context and how to expand the scope of eco-criticism.He puts forward two seemingly contradictory views on "place":sense of place and sense of planet,insisting on a balance between the unique and the common,the local and the global,the human and the non-human.He believes that it is the duty for eco-criticism or environmental literary studies to work out the implications of these relationships.
