摘  要:
In generally, to make sure of the sperm enter into living egg is considerable dif-ficult. We have got excellent observations by use of the electronic scanning microscope.The results can be summarized as follows: 1. The matured egg of the bream (Megalobrama terminalis Richardson) is surro-unded by the thick chorion. There is a fanel-like depression on the chorion nearbythe animal pole. A micropyle is at the bottom of the depression. A micropylar tube,5μ in diameter, connels the micropyle into the protoplasmic germinal disc. Theacrosomless sperm contact with the egg cytoplasm through this micropylar tube. Inaddition, there are numerous infinitesimal pores are found all over the surface ofchorion. 2. The sperm of the bream enter into the egg instantly, and all micropylar tubesare sealed by the fertilized plug within 30 seconds after insemination, the sperm entersthe egg and cast off the flagellum. 3. Although only one sperm is allowed to enter into the egg normally, but agreat quantity of supernumerary sperms is necessary to raise the rate of fertilization.However, if more than one sperm enters into the egg, the number of chromosomeswill be raised than the normal and cause abortion in early embryogenesis, thus afertilized plug is formed at the inner opening of the micropylar tube.
