For studying the dynamical variations of accumulation and excretion of cadmium and copper in Boettcherisca peregrine (Diptera:Sarcophagidae) during growth and development, newly oviposited larvae of the fly were exposed to different concentrations of Cd2+ or Cu2+ administered in the artificial diet under laboratory condition, and the accumulation and excretion of Cd2+ or Cu2+ by the larvae every 24 h and changes in the metamorphosis were measured. The results showed that the larvae fed on diets supplemented with Cd2+ retained most of ingested Cd2+, only few ingested Cd2+ were excreted by excretory system. Cd2+ accumulation in larvae of B. peregrina increased with the prolonging of feeding time, but was not proportional to Cd2+ concentration in diets. Cd2+ accumulation in larvae at 200 μg/g exposure was higher than that in larvae at 100 μg/g, 400 μg/g and 800 μg/g Cd2+ exposure. Cd2+ excretion of the larvae showed the same tendency. During metamorphosis, Cd2+ contents in the pupae was lower than that of in the larvae, newly eclosion adults had lower Cd2+ contents than the larvae. After B. peregrina larvae fed on diets supplemented with different concentrations of Cu2+, Cu2+ contents retained in the larval body were less than that excreted by excretory system. Cu2+ accumulation and excretion of B. peregrina larvae increased with the prolonging of feeding time, and Cu2+ accumulation and excretion were not in direct proportion to Cu2+ concentrations administered in the artificial diet. During metamorphosis, Cu2+ was excreted continually and Cu2+ content in vivo decreased.
