The ongoing coastal eutrophication is becoming one of the major questions of marine environment with widespread concern, and N and P are the two main nutrients which result in eutrophication. In this experiment investigation of the effects of N and P on the growth, photosynthesis and soluble protein of Enteromorpha linza were carried out.The results showed that N and P added in natural sea water could increase the net photosynthetic rates and the concentrations of soluble protein,as a result significantly improved the growth rates of the thalli. In normal sea waters, the concentrations of N and P are always so low that they could become the limiting factors;according to our research, they could make up for a deficiency of each other in certain range. It indicated that Enteromorpha linza could grow more effectively in eutrophic sea areas, thereby it turns into one of the potential species which cause large-scale occurrence of green macro-algal blooms.
