The paraffin section and hand sliced methods were used to study on anatomical structure of leaves of Fontanesia fortunei Carr.,Forsythia suspense Vahl.,and Syringa microphylla Diels. The results showed that the leaf structure of three species were bifacial type, but the significant difference existed among the four in the aspects of the number of the palisade tissue, the ratio of palisade tissue to spongy tissue and primary vein structure. It showed that the order of the stomatal density was Fontanesia fortunei Carr.>Forsythia suspense Vahl.>Syringa microphylla Diels.;the order of the ratio of palisade tissue and spongy tissue in three species was Fontanesia fortunei Carr.>Forsythia suspense Vahl.>Syringa microphylla Diels. The drought-resistant ability of Fontanesia fortunei Carr.was the strongest among these three plants, the second was Forsythia suspense Vahl.,and the thinnest was Syringa microphylla Diels.
