One hundred and twenty one-day-old AA broilers were used to evaluate the effeets of polysaccharide from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi on their nutrient digestibility and growth performance. The chicks were assigned to four treatments with 30 birds in each.Treatment one were given only basal diet, others were added with the polysaccharide at a dose of 100 mg/kg,200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg,respectively.Metabolic test was performed for 4 days on week 3 and week 5 respectively, the feed consumption, body weight gain daily and the ratio of feed to body weight gain were measured on day 7,14,21,35 and 49,and sera samples were collected from each treatment on day 21,35 and 49.The results indicated that the addition of 200 mg/kg could improve the nutrient digestibility and body weight gain(P<0.05),and had no significantly effects on the contents of TP,GLU, Ca and P(P>0.05).
