Characteristics of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) are large capacity, quick operation speed and low cost. BRT has been applied in many cities in the world. This paper first introduces the meaning of BRT, second expounds the characteristics of BRT from components and operation, finally discusses the applying modes of BRT and the possibility and necessity to be applied in transit system in our country.
