[Objective] The research aimed to explore the attractant effect of volatiles from potato tubers to Phthorimaea operculella.[Method] The olfactory behavioral responses of P.operculella adult to the volatiles from intact and cut potato tubers in natural storage of different time(0,15,30,45 and 60d) were determined by using Y-tube olfactometer.[Result] The odor released from intact potato tuber whether it was fresh or placed in different time had no obvious attractant effect on both male and female P.operculella.The cut fresh potato tuber could seduce the mated female moths significantly, but had no evident attractant effect on virgin female and male ones. The odor produced from cut potato tubers that placed over 15d indoor could not significantly attract male and female adults. The smell from the cut fresh potato tuber was not able to strengthen the female sex pheromone on attractant effect to male worms.[Conclusion] The volatiles from cut fresh potato tubers had obvious oviposition attractant effect to P.operculella female moth, but no influence on mating behavior of male and female adults.
