The tolerance to cypermethrin and the activity of cytochrome P450 of mixed-function oxidases(MFO) were compared between Guixi and Jinxi populations of Dendrolimus punctatus Walker in Jiangxi Province, and the inhibition effect of synergists PB and SV1 on MFO of D.punctatus was tested by biochemical method. The results showed that the activity of cytochrome P450 was higher in more cypermethrin-tolerance Guixi population than in Jinxi population. The inhibition effects of PB and SV1 on cytochrome P450 were stronger as the concentration of PB and SV1 increased, and the inhibition effects of PB on cytochrome P450 in various tissues were stronger than that of SV1,which indicated that one of the synergist mechanisms of PB and SV1 was that they could inhibit the activity of cytochrome P450 directly, hence decreased the detoxifcation ability of cytochrome P450 to pyrethroids in D.punctatus.
