The experiment was conducted to examine effect of dietary copper supplementation on catecholamines secretion in the hypothalamus and midbrain of growing pigs.Forty-five crossbred pigs were randomly assigned to three groups of 15 pigs with each comprising 5 replicates of 3 animals.Pigs were allocated to diets that contained 5(as control),125 and 250 mg/kg sulphate copper. In result, the concentration of catecholamines was higher in pigs that were fed diets with 125(P<0.01)and 250 mg/kg sulphate copper(P<0.05),respectively,than that in pigs fed with 5 mg/kg copper. However, the catecholamines concentration showed the trends of decreasing according to the increasing of the level of copper. The concentration of noradrenalin was higher in the groups fed diets with 125(P<0.05)and 250 mg/kg sulphate copper(P<0.01).Furthermore,with the increasing of copper concentration, the noradrenalin concentration was increased. The results indicated that high dietary copper may promote the secretion of growth hormone to grow by regulating the metabolism of catecholamines.
