摘  要：
The Bischofia zygaenid-moth, Histia rhodope nigrinus Jordan is one of the mostdestructive insects of the tree Bischofia trifoliata Hook. in Wu-chang, during theyears 1953 and 1954. This insect is distributed in India, Burma, Java, Central andWest China. This insect has four generations a year in Wu-chang. It over-winters as maturelarva in a cocoon in the crevices of the wall or under stones. The larva has fourinstars. The third and fourth instars feed on the leaves of Bischofia and check thegrowth and development of the latter seriously. The nursery stock and youngtrees are more susceptible. The writer made a study on the life history of this insect. Preliminary experi-ments on control measures are also conducted. Hand-picking ahd spraying with666, DDT or derris are very effective.
