One hundred and fifty Sprague-Dawley rats were selected and divided into five groups:a model control group,a positive control group, three groups of total flavonoids extracted from Blumea balsamifera with different concentrations(high, medium and low) to study the effect of the total flavonoids on their skin wound healing and healing mechanism. The whole layer dorsal skin was removed to establish an acute wound healing model, and the wound rats were treated for consecutive 10 days. The area of wound surface and the rate of wound healing were recorded. The samples of wound healing skin were taken from the rats at 1 d,3 d,5 d,7 d,10 d after wound. The histopathological change of wound skin was examined under the microscope. The results showed that higher concentrations of the total flavonoids promoted the skin wound healing rate and shortened the healing time. The levels of IL-1 and TNF-α of the total flavonoids groups were significantly increased at the early stage of trauma. The total flavonoids encouraged the wound healing by inflammatory secretion
