A strain of hydrocarbon degrading bacteria named HDB-1,which could grow with oil as the sole carbon source and energy source, was isolated and purified from the soil polluted by oil.The method of microorganism adhering to hydrocarbon(MATH) was used to study the bacteria-surface hydrophobicity of the strain and its environmental influence factors. The results showed that the hydrophobicitiy of HDB-1was 68.5%,and the bacteria-surface hydrophobicity changed to different degrees along with the variations of culture time, carbon source, temperature and pH value. The removal rate of culture solution with initial oil content of 1 000 mg/L was 91.6% after 6 d,being obviously higher than the microsphere genera contrast bacteria(64.5%).The cell-surface hydrophobicity of bacteria showed certain relativity with its degradation on organic pollutants in environment, and the degradation rate of the bacteria with high hydrophobicity on hydrophobic organic matter was quicker than that of the bacteria with low hydrophobicity.
