To investigate the effects of dietary antimicrobial peptides and synbiotics on blood biochemical indexes and intestinal microflora in AA broiler chickens,480 one-day-old AA broilers were randomly divided into 4 groups. Group 1 was fed basal diet as a control group, and group 2 was fed basal diet supplemented with 0. 5% antimicrobial peptides as the group added with antimicrobial peptides, and group 3 was fed basal diet supplemented with 0. 3% synbiotics as the group added with synbiotics, and group 4 was fed basal diet supplemented with 0. 5% antimicrobial peptides and 0. 3% synbiotics as the group added with antimicrobial peptides and synbiotics. The test lasted for 42 d. The results showed that adding antimicrobial peptides significantly increased( P < 0. 05) the levels of total protein, albumin, immunoglobulin G( Ig G) and immunoglobulin A( Ig A) in serum of 21-day-old broilers, while adding synbiotics significantly increased( P < 0. 05) the activity of glutathione peroxidase and significantly decreased( P < 0. 05) the content of serum triacylglycerol and the activities of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate transaminase in serum of 21-day-old broilers; adding antimicrobial peptides significantly increased( P < 0. 05) the levels of total protein, albumin and significantly decreased( P < 0. 05) the content of serum triacylglycerol and the activities of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate transaminase in serum of 42-day-old broilers, while adding synbiotics significantly increased( P < 0. 05) the activity of glutathione peroxidase and significantly decreased( P < 0. 05) the activity of alanine aminotransferase in serum of 42-day-old broilers. The numbers of Escherichia coli and Salmonella in the duodenum, jejunum, ileum and cecum of AA broilers were significantly or extremely significantly decreased( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01) and the number of Lactobacilli was significantly or extremely significantly increased( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01) after adding antimicrobial peptides and synbiotics alone or in combination. The results indicate that antimicrobial peptides and synbiotics used alone or in combination can improve the serum biochemical indexes and the condition of intestinal microflora in broilers, enhancing immunity.
