Young ruminants are at a very important stage of growth, which, together with the subsequent stages, can affect the overall development level, tissue and organ maturation, rapid immune system construction, lactation, and reproductive performance. The intake of open food, the quantity of drinking water and the nutritional composition of the diet after weaning all have objective effects on the rumen development of young ruminants. Diet nutrition level will reflect in the animal metabolism, and growth performance to a certain extent, and will also change the body hormone and growth factors reflected in its growth and development. However, the important factors influencing the growth and development rate and rumen development degree of young ruminants depend on the energy and protein level in the diet. Ensuring protein saturation can also bring essential nitrogen to the rumen microecology, thus promoting effective improvement of ruminant digestion and avoiding malnutrition. But the results will vary depending on the source of the diet, the animal species and the problems encountered during the experiment. Therefore, the author focuses on the effects of different energy and protein levels in the diet on the growth performance and rumen development of young ruminants in recent years, hoping to provide some positive references for the relevant diet preparation work in China.
