小麦吸浆虫是一种可畏的害虫,因为它的为害可以造成小麦的严重损失。我国近年在陕西、河南等九省发生了此种灾害,而且成了漫延之势。受灾地区的政府同中央人民政府农业部都很注意这个问题,但是第一步的困难是不知道究系那一种昆虫。作者受了农业部工作人员的嘱托,监别种类,曾经参考了许多书籍,得了一些关於小麦吸浆虫的知识,愿在本文作一报导,文末附有重要参考文献,以供实地工作人员的参考。

摘  要：
An exotic insect pest is doing severe damage to wheat in Shensi, Honanand several other provinces of China. It seriously threatens the cultivation ofwheat in these areas. In Honan alone, more than two hundred million chin ofwheat was lost in 1950. Moreover, this pest is spreading and it has alreadybeen found in nine provinces. The specimens from Shensi, Honan and Anhweiwere identified as Sitodiplosis mosellana (Gehin). For a number of years, mistakes were often made in the world literaturedue to the confusion of Sitodiplosis mosellana (Gehin) with Contarinia tritici(Kirby). With a view to forestalling a repetition of such an error in thiscountry, diagnostic characters of both adults and larvae are described and illus-trated in this paper, which should facilitate the identification of these midges.A review of the works on wheat midge in Europe, America and Japan isgiven. More important references are also listed at the end of the paper.
