摘要：

In 1950, outbreaks of the field crickets have been roported from sixprovinces, i.e., Shantung, Honan, Pingyuan, Shansi, Anhwei and Hopei. Otherprovinces such as Kiangsu and Northeastern Provinces have also recorded it asa serious pest on crops. It is an omnivorous insect feeding upon various kindsof crops especially the cotton, sesame, peanut, beans, potato, cabbage, etc.When present in great numbers, it may invade house and gnaw food andcloth. Available statistics shown that over 3,440,000 mou of crops wereseriously damaged in Shantung, Honan and Northern Anhwei. This species has long been recorded as G.mitratus both in China andJapan. However, according to T. Shiraki G. mitratus is found in TaiwanProvince only and comparatively few in number. In mitratus described byBurmeister the posterior margin of mesosternum is straight, while in testaceustriangularly emarginated in the middle. In the past two years life history of this species was worked out. Thereis one generation a year. The overwintering eggs hatch in the late part ofApril to the end of May. Its nymph has six instars and lasts about threeweeks. Adults begin to appear in May or June. Oviposition takes place inthe middle of October. The insects were reared in the constant temperaturechamber, though the adults appear early in February yet their ovipositionperiod is almost the same with those emerged in May. Its natural enemiesare observed and mentioned in this paper. In the control experiments, poison-millet bait and grass-pile trap are found more practicable.
