In order to study the effects of metal ions on the growth of black soldier fly larvae and the accumulation distribution in larvae and feces, the larvae breeding experiments with different concentrations of Cu~(2+), Zn~(2+), Cd~(2+) in the feed were done by analysising the indexes of larval weight, metal content in larvae and feces. The results showed that the appropriate amount of Cu~(2+), Zn~(2+), Cd~(2+) could promote the growth of the larvae. The larvae weight was the highest under concentration of Zn~( 2+)400 mg/kg. Residues of Cu~(2+), Zn~(2+) and Cd~(2+) in the larvae and feces were increased with increasing of the concentration of Cu~(2+), Zn~(2+), Cd~(2+) in the feed. The residues of Cu~(2+) and Zn~(2+) in larvae were less than 50%, but most of them remained in feces. The Cd~(2+) residue ratio of larvae was more than 50%, the highest ratio was 91.3% under 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg treatments, while the Cd~(2+) residue ratio of larvae was less than 50% under 80 and 160 mg/kg treatments. The residues of heavy metals in feces mainly existed in residual state, and the order of contents in each form was residual state > acid soluble state > water soluble state > alkali soluble state under high concentration. These indicated that the addition of appropriate metal ions in feed was beneficial for the growth of the larvae, but excessive addition would inhibit the larvae growth and cause the accumulation of metal ions.
