Chickens artificial infected with Pasteurella multocida were fed with medicated diet to study the effects of Rabdosia serra Hara and its extract combined with cefatriaxone sodium against chicken pasteurellosis. The results showed that the mortality of prevention group and curative group was decreased compared with control. Meanwhile the mortality of prevention group was significantly lower than that of curative group. Rabdosia serra Hara present less preventive and curative effects alone against chicken pasteurellosis. While cefatriaxone sodium showed significant efficacy against chicken pasteurellosis with preventive rate of68.2% and curative rate of 47.8%, respectively. Moreover, Rabdosia serra Hara combined with cefatriaxone sodium showed more obvious efficacy against chicken pasteurellosis with preventive rate of 72.7% and curative rate of 52.2%, respectively. The combination of Rabdosia serra Hara and cefatriaxone had significant inhibitory effects in vitro, consistent with the experimental results.
